Fellows

Fellows will be the content resources as well as a contextual link between the local watershed and the school curriculum. With proper training (Fellow Outreach Projects, Summer Courses, TEST, Summer Planning), Fellows will be prepared to enter the classroom and be effective educators. Fellows will be the leaders of certain activities, technical assistance for hands-on and field activities, or a co-Teacher of a smaller group of students. Fellows can also spend some of their time adopting existing curriculum into a form that Teachers are likely to embrace and adopt for the long-term. More than just an additional warm body to help in the classroom, Fellows will be active participants in implementing inquiry-based curriculum, modifying existing curriculum to be effective in the specific classroom, increasing Teacher content knowledge in areas that they may be weak or less confident, supporting the use of technology in the classroom, implementing hands-on, experimental activities, and serving as a role model for students that may wonder what a scientist does.
