Graduate Program: M.S. in Biology
Field of Study: Science Education
Academic Background: B.S. in Biology, The College of New Jersey, 2001

Personal Interests

I really enjoy spending time outdoors, especially in Ocean City, N.J. I relish the early mornings and late afternooons there, when I can run on the beach and not worry about knocking over a sandcastle or fallingg into a child's deep hole. A few years ago, I took up ocean kayaking, which is great until the dolphins sneak up on you and pretend to be sharks! Also, I have recently discovered cooking, so I'm trying to become the best vegetarian cook that I can.

Research Interests

I am interest in how students learn science. Currently, I am studying whether students can improve their science process skills by investigating a phenomenon during inquiry-based labs. My model for inquiry-based labs is the red and white yeast lab, in which students are asked to hypothesize, test, and explain why yeast forms a patch with a red center and white edge.
