Antarctica is a continental landmass of around 14,000,000 kilometers, or roughly one and a half times the size of the United States. It is located in the Southern hemisphere and contains the South Pole. Antarctica is buried under an ice cap that is up to 4.7 kilometers thick, and surrounded by an ice shelf that grows and shrinks with the seasons.
